COLONEL CHARLES D. KUHL

Colonel Charles D. Kuhl is deputy director, Air Force Civil Engineer Center, a 1,900-person primary subordinate unit, assigned to Air Force Materiel Command and attached to the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center. In this position, he assists the director in leading a more than 1,900-person civil engineer field operating agency responsible for providing responsive, flexible full-spectrum installation engineering services. AFCEC missions include facility investment planning, design and construction, operations support, real property management, energy support, environmental compliance and restoration, and readiness and emergency management. The unit conducts its operations at more than 75 locations worldwide. 

Prior to this assignment, Colonel Kuhl was AFCEC's director of staff. commander of the 55th Mission Support Group, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. Other command tours include the commnander of the 55th Mission Support Group, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska; the 87th Civil Engineer Squadron, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey, and 52nd Civil Engineer Squadron, Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. Additionally, Colonel Kuhl served as Deputy Commander of the 379th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron Al Udeid AB, Qatar.  While assigned to the Pentagon, Washington D.C., he programmed Military Construction in support of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and Air Mobility Command. Colonel Kuhl gained major command operations and programming experience while serving as command service contracts manager and beddown requirements programmer for the C-17, C-5, CV-22, F-22, F-35, HH-60, HC-130, Pararescue and T-6. In addition to multiple base-level civil engineering assignments, he served as an Instructor at the U.S. Air Force Academy Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
