JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas - Compass 2023, the Air Force Civil Engineer Center's annual geospatial training and network event, is open for registration.
The event takes place April 11-13 at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio.
“Compass 2023 offers the geospatial community and stakeholders within the Department of the Air Force the opportunity to participate in and learn about the most recent Geospatial Information and Service (GI&S) initiatives,” said Julio Toala, AFCEC GeoBase Geospatial Operations manager.
This event provides training for geospatial applications, resource sharing, best practices for rapidly advancing geospatial capabilities, and mission-relevant skill development, Toala added.
The event, conducted by the AFCEC Geospatial Integration Office, emphasizes the use of cutting-edge tools and technology, and encourages participation through learning and networking opportunities.
Geospatial engineers will demonstrate cutting-edge GI&S tools and provide numerous opportunities for learning and networking. Under the theme "Geospatial Engineers - Delivering Ground Truth," contributors will showcase successful projects, challenges faced, and deeper insights gained from collecting and delivering ground truth data.
The program tracks include:
Expeditionary and Pre-Deployment -- Mission planning and execution in a deployed environment present unique challenges for Airmen and Guardians, and this content focuses on the skills, materials, and resources that support those challenges.
Garrison -- Content that focuses on the skills, materials, and resources that support daily installation workflow and challenges. This track encompasses content that relates to all roles within the GeoBase community (Geospatial Engineers, field analysts, GIOs, Airmen, supported partners, etc.)
Impact & Improvements -- Information that explains how new policies, practices, and technologies have major implications for an organization, base, or mission. This contains information regarding the future path of GeoBase.
Policy & Procedures -- Content that focuses on best practices within the GeoBase community. This track will provide vital information, standards and working policies.
