The Air Force NEPA Center is holding a series of regional training workshops focused on planning requirements for the environmental impact assessment process, or PREIAP.

The PREIAP training workshops are designed for Air Force members with primary environmental National Environmental Policy Act responsibilities, with a focus on using PREIAP as a tool to meet Air Force goals of six months for preparing environmental assessments and 12 months for preparing environmental impact statements.

"The program is designed in keeping with the Air Force objective of getting 'back to basics' of NEPA compliance," said Hamid Kamalpour with the AF NEPA Center. "We want to give our environmental planning function personnel a variety of best practices for using PREIAP as a powerful tool for cutting time lines for Environmental Assessments and Environmental Impact Statements."

The workshop will feature practical examples and case studies to illustrate a variety of topics, including steps required to complete PREIAP, NEPA stakeholder engagement and project scoping.

The first, set for Feb. 28 - March 1, at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, is already full. Other sessions will be held at Peterson AFB, Colo., June 5 - 7, and in the eastern United States at dates to be determined.

Continuing education units will be awarded to workshop attendees.
