Members from the Royal Canadian air force visited the Air Force Civil Engineer Center to discuss the possibility of using flowable fill in their own civil engineering program. The mixture is used in place of compacted soil at the base of some airfield repairs and provides a base strong enough to withstand air traffic within 90 minutes of pouring. During a demonstration at the Silver Flag Training Site, RCAF airmen were able to see how personnel from the airfield damage repair modernization program were able to quickly mix the flowable fill to repair a crater. Once the flowable fill settles, concrete or another material is laid on top.
