Dr. Marilyn C. Croach has been selected to be the next Air Force Civil Engineer Center deputy director. She is slated to begin work at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas, Aug. 12.

Croach is currently the domestic policy adviser, North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. In that role, she is responsible for advising the commander and staff on multi-sector domestic issues and engagements within various federal, state and local government constructs concerning strategic defense interests, homeland defense issues and Defense Support of Civil Authorities.

She has had a diverse career across numerous government, academic and private organizations. Her experience includes testifying before congressional committees about measures and appropriations for the Department of Defense, Department of Commerce, Office of Personnel Management and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

She has also consulted in the private sector in a variety of areas including collaborative partnership building; strategic planning; governmental and legislative relations; public policy analysis; strategic and crisis communication; and post-base realignment and closure community economic development.

Croach also served as the senior adviser to the commander, NORAD and USNORTHCOM, where she provided strategic and tactical advice and created and executed strategies to establish collaborative engagements and partnerships among varied groups. She served in these federal assignments as a loaned scholar from the University of Texas at Austin in the Federal Intergovernmental Personnel Act Mobility Program.

"Marilyn's extensive experience in working in federal and state governments, academia and in the private sector will bring a fresh perspective as we move our field operating agency from initial operating capability to full operating capability -- as she'll help us toward our signature trademark of Battle Ready ... Built Right," said AFCEC Director Joe Sciabica in a recent email announcing her selection.

Croach will be taking over for Brig. Gen. Vince Saroni, who will return to his assigned duties as the mobilization assistant to the Air Force Civil Engineer, a position he has held since June 2009.
