ASCENSION ISLAND, St. Helena -- Ascension Island, isolated in the middle of the south Atlantic, is a small, remote island with no access to supplies other than by ship. To preserve fuel supplies, the island uses alternative energy sources such as wind turbines to capture natural renewable energy sources.
