Environmental cleanup at the Massachusetts Military Reserve

MASSACHUSETTS MILITARY RESERVE, Mass. -- Contractors with the Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment use a modified aquatic weed harvester to apply a mixture of aluminum sulfate and sodium aluminate to Ashumet Pond in the towns of Falmouth and Mashpee. The alum was applied to mitigate the negative effects of a phosphate plume that is discharging to the pond from the base's old wastewater treatment plant. (Air Force photo by Douglas Karson)
