TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- The new Tyndall fitness center, opened Aug. 20, 2010, is expected to reach the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Platinum level thanks to energy savings and environmentally friendly technologies including solar panels, or photovoltaics. The building also has a cool roof and solar-generated hot water system which are expected to help achieve a 9-percent energy savings for the building. (Air Force photo by Jonathan Green)
