Col. Michael Bartley discusses the benefits to the Air Force of the new solar power system that is being built to supply renewable energy to Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., during an interview April 23. The solar power plant, scheduled for completion in early 2008, will be the largest photovoltaic project in North America. The power plant will produce approximately 15 megawatts of power and provide more than 25 percent of the electricity demand on the base. Colonel Bartley is the 99th Air Base Wing commander at Nellis.
