Energy Action Month

October almost here and with it comes Energy Action Month, which began in 1991 with a proclamation by President George Bush. Efforts to become more energy efficient continue. On Oct. 5, 2009, President Barack Obama signed Executive Order 13514 which highlights the importance and goals of our country's energy conservation, reduction and sustainability goals. The goals are to save taxpayer dollars, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and contribute to national security. The emphasis is so strong that almost every major federal facility, including Air Force installations, now employ a full time energy manager. Most military installations also supplement their efforts with contract resource efficiency managers. (U.S. Air Force photo)
