PBR contracts at work

Crews lay a pipeline to connect a catalytic oxidizer to a well head at a fuel plume on Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. A CATOX pulls contaminants from the soil and destroys them in a 1,000-degree converter. The work being done is part of a performance-based contract to remediate the fuel plume associated with a bulk fuel storage facility. Executed by the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, PBR contracts encourage innovation, save money and eliminate delays. (U.S. Air Force photo/Todd Berenger/Released)
