Eglin AFB threatened species

The Okaloosa darter, whose habitat is almost exclusively on the Eglin Air Force Base ranges in Northwest Florida, became the first fish on Defense Department land to be reclassified from "endangered" to "threatened." Due to major erosion control efforts by members of the 96th Civil Engineer Group Natural Resources Management Section and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service the population has tripled since 1995.
