U.S. AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. -- Restoration crews install new aluminum cladding panels on the 17 spires of the U.S. Air Force Academy Cadet Chapel as part of an on-going Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center-led restoration project. The Air Force Civil Engineer Center, an AFIMSC primary subordinate unit, is replacing 1,068 custom aluminum panels - each crafted to replicate the original 1962 design and adding 1,628 new weather resistant panels - to restore the Chapel’s structural integrity and iconic exterior for future generations of Cadets and visitors.
