Mission: To protect the military's ability to prepare U.S. service men and women to defend our country. We work cooperatively with state governments and federal agencies on environmentally related issues to ensure continued access to and use of the necessary land, sea, and airspace for the Department of the Air Force and Department of War.

Overview: To provide comprehensive national coverage, the division is organized into two regional branches that align with the structure of the Environmental Protection Agency. The EPA divides the United States and its territories into 10 distinct geographic regions to manage environmental programs locally.

Our regional branches mirror this structure to ensure direct local engagement with state and federal regulators:

• The Eastern Branch: Headquartered at Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Georgia, this team supports installations across EPA Regions 1 through 6.
• The Western Branch: Headquartered at Travis Air Force Base, California, this team supports installations across EPA Regions 7 through 10.

Supported by military legal and environmental experts, these regional teams execute the division's core mission activities:

• Engaging in state and federal legislative and regulatory processes.
• Advocating for military policies to ensure installation and range sustainability.
• Partnering with Government and Non-Governmental Organization stakeholders.
• Performing the Department of War and Air Force Regional Environmental Coordinator, or REC, roles. We act as the military's environmental liaison to state agencies, coordinating policies to protect training and operations. 
• Facilitating compliance solutions at the senior regulatory level.
