The Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment earned an overall "Excellent" rating for its compliance inspection that ended March 31.

The grade from the Air Force Inspection Agency team for the March 28-31 inspection is the second-highest score a unit can receive in the five-tier rating system the Air Force uses.

"Receiving the high rating of 'Excellent' is a rare feat for a field operating agency and recognizes the team of dedicated professionals we are blessed to have at AFCEE," said Terry Edwards, AFCEE director. "I am very proud of the work our unsung heroes perform year in and year out to execute our global mission, and I am ecstatic this inspection by an external agency confirmed we are a superior organization."

Fourteen evaluators conducted the inspection, which verifies a unit's compliance with public law, executive orders, Department of Defense and Air Force directives, and local guidance.

"AFCEE personnel are enthusiastic and focused on their worldwide mission," wrote Col. Sandra Gregory, AFIA Compliance Inspection team chief, in the inspection report. "Their passion spills over to compliance programs. ... AFCEE is commended for a job well done."

Of the areas inspected, the operational risk management, safety, public affairs, judge advocate, deployment management, services and quality assurance, and security, protection and emergency management programs were highlighted as "especially well managed" in the report.

Rosie Ramirez of the judge advocate office was recognized as a "Superior Performer," and the public affairs and safety/ORM staffs were recognized as "Superior Teams."

AFCEE manages the Air Force military and housing construction, environmental restoration and military family housing privatization programs. The center's other responsibilities include pollution prevention, resources conservation, and planning and architectural design.
