The Air Force Center for Engineering and the Environment, previously the Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, has sponsored annual technology transfer workshops since 1991. This year's event, with a theme of "Collaboration for Closure," is expected to bring together hundreds of professionals from branches of the military, industry, academia and local, state and federal agencies to focus on the latest in environmental restoration approaches and solutions. The 2011 workshop will have an emphasis on restoration policy and program management, according to organizers. The workshop, which is collaboration between AFCEE's environmental restoration and technical divisions, includes a multiple-track agenda of presentations, short courses and technical sessions. It also includes an exhibit hall and networking opportunities. According to organizers, the entire program is designed to engage remedial program managers and their environmental partners in collaborative discussions on common issues and challenges that face the Air Force Environmental Restoration Program. Registration opened September 2010. Early registration is encouraged as the workshop is limited to approximately 400 attendees. There are no registration or short course fees for active-duty members, civil service employees, state employees and embedded AFCEE contractors, speakers or session chairs.
