SEYMOUR JOHNSON AIR FORCE BASE, N.C. -- Engineers here designed and executed a project to build this support center, which earned a Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design award. The new building consolidates five organizations into a single facility reducing energy consumption by 60 percent and energy costs by 50 percent. The Department of Energy will award the project team including: Environmental Engineer Brian Joyner, Base Energy Manager Matthew Latham, Resource Efficiency Manager Elias Schtakleff, Mechanical Engineer Jeffrey Howard and Energy Management Control System Operator Chris Wheeler; a 2013 Federal Energy Management Program award in November.
