Air Force attorneys fight against rising energy costs

Barges deliver coal to the Lansing Smith generating plant, one of three Gulf Power plants in the Florida panhandle. The plant has coal and natural gas generators and a capacity of 889.9 megawatts. Among its customers are Tyndall Air Force Base and the Naval Support Activity Panama City. Attorneys from the Air Force Civil Engineer Center, Tyndall Detachment, Utility Law Field Support Center, settled a rate case in late 2013 with Gulf Power and avoided a $1.7 million increase in utility costs.
