Operation Walking Shield

A crew member watches as the first of 31 homes donated this year to Operation Walking Shield is hauled away from Grand Forks Air Force Base, N.D., in the spring of 2014. Operation Walking Shield’s Program Manager, Marvin Thurman, credits the combined efforts of Walking Shield, Balfour Beatty Communities and the Air Force for successfully relocating the homes to the nearby Turtle Mountain Reservation. The homes, which had been marked for demolition, will help fill a stark shortage of housing at the reservation. (Air Force Photo/Cassandra Spradlin)
