CE users get a handle on AFCEC's comprehensive asset management plan process Published Jan. 30, 2014 By Leah Suttle AFCEC Public Affairs JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- The Air Force Civil Engineer Center's Planning and Integration Directorate recently introduced a revised comprehensive asset management plan process. The process is part of a new CE initiative to catalog the condition of every building in the Air Force inventory and place the data into a software program called BUILDER. "The new integrated, risk-based model developed in coordination and testing with major commands and base engineers, leverages SMS tools to the maximum extent to achieve an objective, data-driven result. The process requires base-level civil engineers to complete facility condition assessments using SMS," said Lt. Col. Chris Meeker, chief of the comprehensive program development branch. These base facility assessments allow CE to get a clearer picture of problems reported by facility managers and have an Air Force-wide view of which facilities need immediate funding. Along with a few other bases, Joint Base San Antonio acted as a pilot base. Reviews from users at the base level are included in this video. CE partners interested in learning more about the BUILDER program can call or email the AFCEC Reach Back Center for assistance at 888-232-3721 or afcec.rbc@us.af.mil.
