Draft EA, FONSI for A-29 light air support training beddown available Published July 19, 2014 By Air Force Civil Engineer Center JOINT BASE SAN ANTONIO-LACKLAND, Texas -- An environmental assessment, or EA, has been prepared to analyze the impacts of the A-29 Light Air Support Training Beddown at one of three alternative locations: Moody Air Force Base, Ga.; Mountain Home AFB, Idaho; or Shaw AFB, S.C. The purpose of this project is to provide training to Afghan Air Force, or AAF, pilots and maintenance personnel on the A-29 Super Tucano LAS aircraft. AAF pilots would be trained utilizing existing airspace, ranges and military training routes, and in accordance with general flight rules. The EA, prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, Council on Environmental Quality regulations and Air Force instructions implementing NEPA, evaluates potential impacts of the action on the environment at each alternative location, including the No Action Alternative. Based on this analysis, the Air Force has prepared a proposed Finding of No Significant Impact, or FONSI.
