AFCESA showcases “BEAR” expeditionary energy initiative at Pentagon event

This energy efficient shelter features a photovoltaic fly and is one of several designs tested by AFCESA and the Air Force Research Lab. This new system also employs solar flys, insulated liners, and a more efficient environmental control unit capable of cooling two shelters rather than the current one-on-one configuration. Once deployed, this system would be the first step in a comprehensive plan that could greatly reduce BEAR generator fuel consumption. (U.S. Air Force photo/Rod Fisher)
