Military Family Housing
Living in military family housing, or government housing, provides easy access to a wealth of community services and amenities such as schools, youth programs, commissary, base exchange, and food services. This is especially true in overseas locations where military members are reliant on the support facilities and services on the installation. MFH also provides a safe, secure and supportive environment.
In general, MFH is provided to military members who meet the following criteria:
- Members with family members authorized to reside with them
- Military-married-to-military couples assigned to the same or adjacent base and reside jointly
At certain overseas locations, MFH may be available to other categories of personnel, based on specific policies, procedures, and mission needs.
AFCEC/CIH's Role in MFH
Housing Master Planning:
Execution, management, and oversight of the Family Housing Master Plan and General Officer Homes Master Plan, Housing Community Profile, and Housing Requirements and Market Analysis.
MFH Investment Planning:
Working with the AFCEC Planning & Integration (P&I) Directorate to develop out-year housing requirements for the Program Objective Memorandum (POM), corresponding programming guidance, and Housing Integrated Priority List (IPL).
MILCON Design Management:
Design management of MFH MILCON and SRM projects and any future housing privatization initiatives.
Standardization and Benchmarking:
Development of standard practices to be employed throughout the MFH enterprise where feasible and beneficial. This process will include development, collection, and dissemination of lessons learned throughout the MFH community.
