Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery training
A crew of Airmen work together to fill a simulated battle-damaged crater with a mixture of flowable fill and 50 gallons of water. This is the first step of the asphalt capping process, and after 15 minutes, the rapid setting concrete cap is complete. This was just one portion of the Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery training event that took place July 21, 2021, at the Silver Flag Training Site at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida. Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery training
During a Rapid Airfield Damage Recovery training event July 21, 2021, at the Silver Flag Training Site at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, a four-member crew of Airmen execute the final step of the RADR process. After pouring 10 inches of rapid setting concrete over the top of flowable fill inside of a simulated battle-damaged crater, the Airmen smooth out the surface to complete the capping step of the process. Ascension Island Airfield energy infrastructure
Ascension Island Airfield, a British territory more than 5,000 miles southeast of Patrick Space Force Base, Florida, and about 500 miles south of the equator, will receive energy infrastructure upgrades through an ERCIP contract that includes the replacement of six wind turbines with a single 900 Kwhr wind turbine generator. The renewable energy resource will supplement generator production and provide an alternate energy source if fuel resources are disrupted. (U.S. Air Force photo)
