MXG Lincoln exercise

A team of 55th Maintenance Squadron Airmen tow an aircraft into the North Hangar at Lincoln Airport as part of a proof of concept exercise Oct. 23, 2020 as the 55th Wing prepares to operate out of Lincoln Airport starting early next year. The training not only allowed to test the hangars to ensure the aircraft would fit as expected and to identify limiting factors while there’s still time to fix them before commencing operations, but it also provided an opportunity to certify some personnel in things like towing aircraft into these hangars. During the first field evaluation of a solution developed by the Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s Laboratory, the research team place K-Fill Controlled Low-Strength Material into a crater using a 10.5 cubic yard concrete truck in July 2019. 2020 Discipline Working Group Training Workshop

Engineers and architects from across the Department of Defense met virtually Oct. 20 to discuss policy updates to help build more resilient and code compliant facilities to meet mandatory DOD facility criteria. During this year’s Discipline Working Group Training Workshop, a team of Air Force Civil Engineer Center Facility Engineering, Operations, and Planning and Integration Directorates subject matter experts came together with their counterparts from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Navy Facilities Engineering Command, the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Air Force’s Office of the Civil Engineer to collaborate and discuss policy updates. An aerial view of Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, and the surrounding areas affected by flood waters March 17, 2019. An increase in water levels of surrounding rivers and waterways, caused by record-setting snowfall over the winter in addition to a large drop in air pressure, caused widespread flooding across the state of Nebraska.
